A new yoga studio in Amsterdam West

Om Yoga Studios opened this summer on Willem de Zwijgerlaan, in the Bos en Lommer part of Amsterdam West. If you've walked past the building, you'll know it better as the one with Hotel G on the ground floor — we're three floors up, in a wide room with tall windows and a lot of afternoon light.

We teach traditional yoga, and we teach it slowly. Classes run from foundational sessions for people who have never done yoga before, through to steadier practice for those who've been at it for years. There's also Yin, for the evenings when you'd rather stretch out and stay still than move.

The studio was started by two people who came to yoga from different directions — one who grew up around it in India, one who has spent years inside the practice. What they wanted was fairly simple: a calm room, real teaching, and no pressure to keep up with anyone.

A few practicalities. We're open morning and evening, six days a week. A drop-in class is €20, and there are class passes and monthly memberships if you'd like to come regularly. Your first class is free — book it online and use the code FIRSTFREE at checkout.

If you've been meaning to start, or you've just moved to the neighbourhood and are looking for somewhere close, come and try a class. You don't need any experience, and you don't need to bring anything but yourself — mats and props are here.

Find us at Willem de Zwijgerlaan 350, 3V. Book at omyogastudios.nl, and follow along on Instagram @omyogastudios.
