Service Description

Becoming acquainted. The classical texts call this stage parichaya — the point at which the practice has been repeated so many times that it is known the way a very old friend is known. After enough time, something shifts: the student is no longer following the sequence, but genuinely meeting it. Advanced classes cover the full range of postures taught at this school, with a thorough warm-up and an extended breathing practice. What distinguishes this class is not harder postures — it is the practices the postures and breath have been preparing the body to receive: bandha (energy locks) and mudrā (seals), applied within sustained breath retention. Cuing shifts from external alignment to internal attention, and there is more silence than in the other classes. Classes close with extended, quiet sitting, bringing attention toward nāda — a subtle inner sound that becomes perceptible when body and breath are sufficiently still. What we do in class • Centering and pranayama warm-up • A full classical sequence at a steady pace, with sustained holds • Deeper backbend and inversion work for experienced bodies • Bandha and mudrā applied within sustained breath retention • Extended Śavāsana and seated meditation This class is for you if • You have practised Hatha yoga consistently for one to two years or more • You are stable and at ease in the Intermediate postures • You want to work with bandha, mudrā and the energetic dimension of practice • You are drawn to meditation and can stay present when it becomes difficult This is not a beginner-friendly class.
